Three weeks after making its No. 5 debut, Hozier's Too Sweet debuted at No. 1 last week, moving up from No. 2.

Take Me to Church, his breakout single, peaked at number two on the list in 2014.

The first track off his fifth EP, Unheard, which was released on March 29, is called Too Sweet. In Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, and Ireland, the song has also peaked at the top of the charts.

The Wicklow native expressed his happiness on social media, posting a video on X and told his fans that he was “so thrilled” they were liking it and that he was “taken massively by surprise by it.”

Hozier is the latest musician to reach the top of the US song charts, following in the footsteps of Sinead O'Connor, U2, and Gilbert O'Sullivan.

Nothing Compares 2 U by O'Connor peaked at number one on the charts for four weeks in April 1990.

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and With or Without You were two of U2's 1987 No. 1 hits.

In July 1972, O'Sullivan's song “Alone Again (Naturally)” reached the top of the charts.

Hozier will perform on Friday, July 5, 2024, in Marlay Park in Dublin. Lord Huron and Brittany Howard are joining him as honoured guests.
